Don't give up hope ever!!! I can see you are suffering greatly.
I have a diagnosis of Major Depression with Psychotic Features
and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Borderline Personality Disorder.
But I am living well. I am not suffering most of the time, because
I have good medication, psychotherapy and a day program I
really enjoy going to. I receive Social Security disability, and I
work "on the side."
I live independently and I have 3 cats as pets.
Sometimes I get symptoms, but I don't suffer like I used to.
Don't be fooled -- mental illness is real, no matter wha the old
timers or elders might say
Mental illness is a combination of brain chemistry gone awry, and
the results of being abused by people, especially people we are
supposed to trust and rely on.
The medications I take are: Celexa 60 milligrams a day, (for the
Depression), Buspar 60 milligrams a day (for the anxiety) and
Risperdal 4 milligrams a day (for the psychosis).
I see my psychotherapist once a week and my psychiatrist
once a month for my prescriptions.
Also, I go to a day program for people with mental illness,
and there are all sorts of interesting activities such as
art groups, writing groups, support groups, picnics, games,
friendship, dinner is at 4 p.m. and the staff and other members
of the club focus on our strengths and in this way we learn
that our dreams really can come true regardless if we have
a mental illness.
So don't give up. There is hope -- I'll be thinking of you
in my prayers. -- I send you love and friendship
Love,
Julie Cipolla
