今天，拜伟大的诺贝尔文学奖所赐，我能够站在这里。从文化的开始到现在，已经度过了大约2000年的时间，无论是哪个国家，哪个致力于文学的人都在追寻着人类文字魔术的极限。到今天，我们终于能重现一些苦难，一些一些辛酸、或者重现一些笑容。在文学内容，或者其他表达方式上，我们慢慢成熟，成熟到可以通过各种手段去打动人，创造感动，引发思考。
我希望感谢很多人，这些人有一些在场，但他们当中地大部分的人都不在场。我今天之所以能站在这里，不是因为我有可以无穷挥霍的灵感，不是因为我有超越前人的创意，也不是因为我有渊博的知识。正像詹姆斯·卡麦隆先生说的那样，我胸口的心跳，是我最好的资产。我今天站在这里，更多的是要感谢全世界所有还在为成功努力的人们。他们没有获奖，有的人甚至没有钱将写作当做一种职业，但他们都在努力，他们的天分不差，他们的作品也很好，有时候我就很想问，为什么没有人知道，为什么呢？
当偶然我走进欧洲古老城市的图书馆，翻开那些两三百年前作品，写着不为人知的名字，我脑海里就能浮现出他们拼命占用自己的休假时间，在劣质面包和没有卫生保障的饮食条件下，在没有明亮灯光和按摩浴室的家里，用鹅毛笔写下一个一个字，记录下我们今天需要的知识。
也许，经过时间的流逝，会证明出有一些记录下来的东西对我们有用，有一些则没有用，但是今天站在这里，我很想感谢一直在做出这一切的人们。我知道，在这个世界上有许多这样的人，我不能一个一个去了解他们，我只能尽我的能力去帮助一些这样的人。正如今天我所得到的诺贝尔文学奖也要感谢那些在生活中给我提供素材的人们，我们的生活是全世界的血肉累积而成，不能抽离一分一毫。
在现在世界上的许多国家里，有很多优秀的创作者为明天累积知识和经验，我在这里要感谢他们，也希望更多的人给他们以关注。我觉得诺贝尔奖里最值得夸奖的奖项就是文学奖，尽管我的作品可以表达一些生存的意义，但我觉得这还不够——我知道，也许我们终生都无法窥见真理的极限，但我们也许就该如此不断尝试，成为传承知识的一部分。正因为我们也是这当中的一部分，我更希望所有人多拿出一些关注，去了解更多。”
今天，我站在这里，拿走的奖代表了爱情和尊严，高贵和卑微，但我并不是感到很高兴。因为我对这部作品尚有一点失望，我没能在生存与死亡的表达上更加深入，更加震撼人心。当然我承认，这是为了让更多年轻的孩子也来接受这种关于磨难的经历，我不得不作出妥协。然而我始终坚信的是，我们的表达，我们所创造出来的文化和感动，并不仅仅在我们已知的范围内存在。我们的目光应该跟我们散播的文化一样宽容而没有界线，广阔而没有禁制。
套用一句很老的小说里的台词就是，‘你们来看，这里有很多人。’我觉得这句话真是太好了，如今不就是有很多人在注视着我们吗？那么我们是不是应该用同样的目光去回敬这个世界？我们应该怎样做？我想我没有答案，只能说我们依然在追求答案，或者无限趋近于答案的回答。今天我已经浪费了大家太多时间，再次感谢大家能听我说完这番话。感谢诺贝尔，感谢全世界所努力传承知识的人们，你们的伟大，超越了人类已知的定义！
