The most merciful way for those who are suffering could be to help them get rid of the pain. it is by no means sympathetic to leave them to endure the endless torture. Our commiseration requires us to use the most efficient and ultimate way to release the pain of people, which means to give them a comfortable way of death.
3.It is merciful for the family of those who endure great suffering
Not only the patients, but also their family members are all suffering. Quickening up the inevitable death could release not only the undescribable pain, but also the burdens caused to the patient's family. Their families have made social sacrifice as well as endured mental pressure, which is really as fatal as what the patients suffer from physically. Thus, to 'pull the plug' is a mercy to their families. For example, the Supreme Court of Indiana, America, agreed with this view in 1983 and allowed the parents of Baby Doe to make him die of starvation. Those who were for this judgement believed that it was one of the most sympathetic decisions.
